Flora Rustica
This project came to us from the library of 19th Century preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon. As is common for 19th century books bound in half-calf (leather spine and corners), the thin leather joints had crumbled and the boards were detached. New inner joints were created, and new leather was applied to matching boards. The original cloth sides went neatly back on over the leather, and gold tooling was worked in a very similar style. The reuse of the original label gives this book new life while very much capturing the look and feel of the original.
